Dr Ribero’s Agency of the Supernatural – The Case of the Green-Dressed Ghost first started as a character exercise, back in 2015. I was taking part in a writing class in Exeter, and came up with an ageing Argentinian lothario, complete with twirly moustache, polished shoes, and a zest for solving local mysteries about rhubarb theft.
Little did I know it at the time, but Dr Ribero would soon become the star of my first published work. Admittedly, he now solves mysteries about the supernatural, not rhubarb. However, his passion for ridding the world of problematic spectres and ghouls is not to be underestimated.
What’s it all about?
Now that would be telling!
I will reveal this, though. Dr Ribero’s agency aren’t the most professional set-up around. Miss Wellbeloved, the second-in-charge, finds it difficult to be too hard on the lovely spirits (bless them). Serena specialises in spirit extinguishing, but also in sarcasm; and plenty of it. Pamela lives in a house filled with dog-hair, and Mike, the I.T guy, has a worrying habit of blowing things up.
The book follows 22-year-old Kester as he meets the agency… and discovers his natural place as one of the team. As for the Green-Dressed Ghost? You’ll have to wait and see!
The Future of Ribero?
The second in the series is reaching completion and the third is in the pipeline. Put it like this, I’m game to keep on going if you are.
